Inked Atlas (inkedatlas.art)
Last updated: October 9, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Inked Atlas, the website and map viewer at inkedatlas.art (the "Service"), operated by Inked Atlas ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What Inked Atlas Is
Inked Atlas is a free, browser-based atlas viewer for fantasy campaign maps. It renders map imagery using hand-drawn artwork at multiple zoom levels for use at the tabletop. The Service is currently in beta: features may change, break, or be removed, and the map content available may expand over time.
2. Accounts
- Accounts are free. We do not charge for access to the Service or to any feature of it.
- You can sign in with an email address and password, an emailed sign-in link, Google, or Discord. Keep your credentials and email account secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
- If you sign in with Google or Discord, your use of that sign-in is also subject to that provider's terms. What we receive from each is described in our Privacy Policy.
- One account per person. Don't share credentials or create accounts for others.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
- You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion is permanent and removes your saved settings and data.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Your Content
Content you create in the Service — such as saved map settings and notes attached to map locations — belongs to you. By storing it in the Service you grant us a limited license to host, store, and display it back to you so the Service can function. We don't publish, sell, or share your content with other users.
You are responsible for what you store. Don't store content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, or that is abusive.
4. Intellectual Property and Attribution
Inked Atlas combines several distinct bodies of work. Each is owned by its creator and carries its own terms.
4.1 The Inked Atlas software
The Inked Atlas software, source code, rendering engine, site design, and text are © Inked Atlas. All rights reserved except as expressly granted here. Proprietary methods and processes used in the Service are confidential and are not licensed to you.
4.2 Atlas of the Flanaess by Anna B. Meyer
The Greyhawk map data and base atlas imagery displayed in Inked Atlas are adapted from Atlas of the Flanaess & Hepmonaland by Anna B. Meyer (annabmeyer.com), licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). Inked Atlas has modified the original work by rendering it at multiple zoom levels and combining it with additional artwork. Her work is the visual foundation of the Greyhawk atlas. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights to her work under CC BY 4.0; the original atlas is freely available from her website.
4.3 Map symbol artwork
Trees, mountains, hills, settlements, and other map symbols are hand-drawn artwork by independent human artists, credited on the About page. All of this artwork is owned exclusively by Inked Atlas and is used in the Service for rendering only.
You may print or save maps rendered by the Service, including the symbol artwork as it appears in them, and use those maps in your personal, non-commercial games.
You may not download, extract, copy, or redistribute the artwork on its own, apart from a rendered map, or use it in other tools, products, or maps. No other rights to the symbol artwork are granted.
4.4 No AI-generated artwork
The illustrated artwork in Inked Atlas (mountains, hills, trees, bridges and other drawn map features) is drawn by credited human artists. We do not use AI image generators to create artwork. The map's colouring, water and layout are produced by our own software from that artwork.
4.5 Wizards of the Coast — Fan Content notice
The World of Greyhawk setting is the intellectual property of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Inked Atlas is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by Wizards of the Coast.
Inked Atlas is unofficial Fan Content permitted under the Fan Content Policy. Not approved/endorsed by Wizards. Portions of the materials used are property of Wizards of the Coast. ©Wizards of the Coast LLC.
5. What You May and May Not Do
You may use the Service to view, explore, and reference maps for personal, non-commercial tabletop play — at home, online, or in a private group.
You may not:
- Scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or programmatically extract map tiles, imagery, symbol art, or data from the Service.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to access non-public parts of the Service, including the underlying data store.
- Use the Greyhawk map content, or any artwork rendered by the Service, for commercial purposes, including in products, publications, or paid services.
- Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service for a fee.
- Circumvent access controls or rate limits, or interfere with the Service's operation.
- Use the Service in a way that violates any applicable law or the rights of any third party.
6. Supporting Inked Atlas
The Service is free for everyone. Development and hosting are supported by voluntary contributions through Patreon. Contributions do not purchase map content, do not unlock the Greyhawk atlas or any of its imagery, and do not grant ownership of anything in the Service. Supporter benefits relate to the development of the platform itself (such as updates and roadmap input) and may change over time. Patreon contributions are governed by Patreon's own terms.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service runs on third-party infrastructure, including hosting and authentication providers. Their availability affects ours. Your use of Patreon, and of any external site linked from the Service, is subject to that site's own terms and privacy policy.
8. Privacy
We collect the minimum needed to run the Service: your email address, your password if you set one (stored hashed by our authentication provider), basic profile details from Google or Discord if you sign in with them, and the settings and campaign data you save. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and how it's handled.
9. Availability and Changes
The Service is provided as a free, in-development tool. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time, with or without notice. We aim to give reasonable notice of significant changes, but we don't guarantee uptime, data retention beyond your active account, or continued availability of any feature or map.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT MAP CONTENT IS COMPLETE OR ACCURATE.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100). THE SERVICE IS FREE; THIS LIMITATION IS A CONDITION OF PROVIDING IT.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service or its content.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if the Service is discontinued. Sections 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12 survive termination.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where practical, notify account holders. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
